I'm ready to do my part to save the environment (and my money).
My conscience finally got the best of me and I bought a rechargeable,
lead-acid external power supply to run my taping equipment. It is a
unit made by Eco-Charge. Until now I was using one of the homemade
4D cell external power packs (mentioned on the previous page).
Some of the many advantages over regular recharables, or standard
alkalines include:
- Smart charger. Plug it in after a show and forget it. It will
stop charging when the battery reaches capacity.
- Recharge this baby hundreds of times.
- Smaller, more compact and secure than a homemade D cell pack.
- Adapter available to run more than one unit (2 D7s or a D7 and SBM)
- "No-Fumble" connectors. They only go on one way! No more fumbling in
the dark at a show.
- Battery pouch has belt loops on its pouch for stealth operations.
- The packaging and components are tidy and durable. A nice, complete
set.
- And most of all, you save money. No more buying countless D cells
only to throw them in a landfill when they're probably not even used
to their potential!
I can vouch for Eco-Charge, but I know nothing about the other vendors
capable of building custom power supplies. I'll list others that I have
read about though. Give 'em a call and see what they can do for you.
