Just how far can I push my external 4D power supply?

I don't remember why Victor's page says 4.7 V is the limit. That's about 
4.3 inside the unit.  I would have thought the D7 would pluck the AA down 
to 4.0 V or so to get all their energy. That would be 4.4 V externally. 
The AA will empty fast when the voltage hits this low. Your D cells will 
give more time at these reduced voltage levels.  Also, the D7 is not doing
the ADC so possibly you only have to worry about the SBM-1 ?

I never ran mine much below 5.0v. (OK, I occasionally ran them below towards an end of a show.) I'm sure I could pull even more power out of the batteries, but I didn't pay enough attention to see how fast the batteries drained on previous runs.
